“Glow Glow”
✨ Glowworms were a beloved toy during the 80s and 90s in Canada, and I was fortunate enough to own one myself! Pressing on its head would illuminate it, filling me with a sense of safety in the darkness and helping me drift off to sleep.
In this painting, my aim was to evoke the nostalgia of the 90s while portraying the glowworm as a vibrant and protective presence. As adults, darkness takes on different forms. It's not so much the literal darkness we fear, but rather the fast pace of life, the weight of grown-up concerns, and the challenges we face.
Some may call it cheesy, but I derive joy from creating art that inspires happiness—a form of painting that allows people to dream a little and infuse a touch more light into their adult lives.
